About the courses

The Royal Colombo Golf Club

This course is 5'770 m long (par 71). A flat course with broad fairways that looks simple to beginners but there are many water hazards and well guarded bunkers which quickly change their opinion... at the 6th hole, golfers cross the Kelani Valley rail track, which passes across the fairway. This club's history goes back to 1879.

The Royal Colombo Golf Club is easily accessible, being 15 minutes drive from first-class hotels in the city.

Victoria Golf Club, Rajawella, Kandy

This course is 6’190 m long (par 73) a championship golf course  Opened in January 1999. Designed by Donald Steel & Company. Set in Sri Lanka's central mountains right on the shores of the Victoria Reservoir the fairways are rather narrow in a hilly countryside. Stately trees and avenues of coconuts lend the course an immediate air of maturity. Impressive natural outcrops of rocks are a distinctive feature and indeed a hazard of the course. The Victoria Golf Club is situated 25 km east of Kandy and 150 km from Colombo.

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

This course which is reputed to be one of Asia's finest is 5'520 m (par 71). The fairways are long and narrow and bordered by firtrees and thick bushes. It demands skillful "position play" and the hilly terrain makes it essential that players can cope with up-hill and downhill lies. The Golf Club is 10 minutes walk from the Grand Hotel and 190 km from Colombo.

Located at the base of Mount Pidurutalagala in the heart of tea country at 1890 meters above sea level, it features fir-lined fairways, bunkers and scenic surroundings. The 9th is an island green surrounded by bunkers. Water (rivers) comes into play on 6 holes.

Waters Edge

The newest addition to the Sri Lankan golfing arena, the Par 72, 18 hole Golf Course will be completed by 2006. Located amidst tranquil and natural surroundings, the majority of this land area is covered by waterways, which would be the main hazards.

The course will have five par 5’s, five par 3’s and eight par 4’s. Being almost link like in design, the wind will also make it challenging whilst making playing conditions pleasant.

The driving range will have 20 bays, 300 meters in length and floodlit for practice at night. Golfers will have a choice of practicing off turf or on artificial mats. There will also be a chip and putt area with bunkers, a restaurant and car parking facilities that could be directly accessed from the main road. This is also the ideal place for golfers to unwind and relax to the soothing sounds of rare and exotic species of birds.
